Transportation and Tourism
Hammock Bay is 25 minutes from Northwest Florida Regional Airport (previously known as Okaloosa Regional Airport or VPS). This modern airport has direct and non stop flights to Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Memphis, Cincinnati, Charlotte and Tampa. Many of these cities have direct connecting flights to cities all over Europe and worldwide.
In May 2010, the new Bay County/Panama City International Airport will open just 30 minutes drive to the East of Hammock Bay. This is first International Airport to be constructed in the USA since Denver International and the first ‘Green’ Airport in the world. It is already attracting wide interest from overseas airlines and will become a major international gateway to the South East of the USA.
Hammock Bay is also served by Pensacola Airport, the current Panama City Airport, Dothan (Alabama) Airport and the general aviation airport at Destin.
Local road connections are ideal and Hammock Bay is minutes from the main I-10 artery that runs east/west along the Gulf Coast. Further road connections are shown on the locator map.
The 227 miles of the Gulf Coast from Pensacola in the west to Apalachicola in the east have recently become united under a single tourism promotion organisation know as THE Beach. (www.thebeachfla.com). THE Beach will attract both domestic and international visitors to the area to enjoy the beautiful beaches, friendly Southern hospitality, Eco-Tourism, Food, 40+ golf courses, Shopping, Fishing – well, the list of attractions is too great to detail here, so look at THE Beach website – to use their slogan "A way of life that will change yours".
Northwest Florida is destined to become a major destination for international travellers, and Hammock Bay is the ideal place to make as your second home or for investment.
